What is a Christian Science Reading Room?
A bookstore that also offers you a quiet place to read, research and explore prayer, spirituality and Christian healing. Open to people of all faiths, backgrounds and ways of life, Reading Rooms are public resources for anyone on their quest for spiritual understanding.
Each Reading Room is locally maintained by one or more Christian Science churches and staffed by individuals who actively study and practice Christian Science. In common with Christian Science churches, Reading Rooms are dedicated to helping visitors discover the peace, comfort and spiritual solutions available to all from God.
The first Christian Science Reading Room was established in 1888 to make available Mary Baker Eddy's foundational book on the Bible and Christian healing: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. Today there are more than 1,500 Reading Rooms worldwide, many sponsoring and/or participating in local activities and neighborhood events, national and local conferences, fairs and expos.
Our Reading Room is nestled in the heart of Falls Church City. We offer books and periodicals for sale for adults and children, some in a variety of languages. These include:
Bibles
Bible marking supplies
audio offerings
greeting cards
Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures available in multiple translations
In our comfortable Study Room, we have Bible research resources and literature published or sold by the Writings of Mary Baker Eddy and the Christian Science Publishing Society. The Christian Science Monitor, a Pulitzer-Prize winning international publication, is also available.
A unique feature of our Reading Room is a small, private outdoor courtyard where you may sit and read in a natural setting.
Our Reading Room is located in the heart of Falls Church. A parking lot is available for visitors. You can also easily reach us from the W&OD bike trail and we have a bike rack in front.
