Church & Services

Sunday Services

10:30 AM - 11:30 AM

The heart of the Sunday service is the weekly Lesson-Sermon–a collection of passages read from The Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by two members of the church who have been elected to serve as readers. Lesson-Sermons can be studied throughout the week leading up to the Sunday service and are on recurring timeless topics, such as Life, Love, and God the Only Cause and Creator. In addition to hearing the Lesson-Sermon, we sing hymns and pray the “Lord’s prayer.”

Sunday school and childcare are offered at the same time as these services.

Wednesday Evening Testimony Meetings

8:00 PM - 9:00 PM

These are warm and casual gatherings where we share gratitude for God, church, and Christian Science. After hearing timely and topical readings from The Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, attendees share ideas and experiences with each other. Someone might talk about what they’ve been learning by studying Christian Science, how they’ve been practicing this science in their daily lives, and healings they’ve experienced through prayer. We also sing and pray together. Whether someone shares or just listens quietly, their prayer and presence helps make this a special mid-week uplift.

Childcare is available during these meetings.

Our Music

Our church houses a fine three-manual Allen digital organ and electronic keyboard, and in our Sunday School we have a keyboard synthesizer and acoustic grand piano. We invite you to come and join us, whether raising our voices together in song at our services or sharing the experience of our annual Christmas music program.

Our Building & Grounds

The original edifice was built by the growing membership in 1916 on a half-acre lot in East Falls Church. Both the building and the membership grew until the property was taken in 1962 for the extension of Interstate 66. A beautiful 2-acre lot was found at the top of a hill in Arlington.

The new, larger church was constructed in 1965/66 of natural materials to reflect its natural surroundings, including a large wooded portion of the property. Soaring walls and arches of limed wood, floors of slate, walls of fieldstone, and window and door frames of bronze all express an appreciation for our environment.

Likewise, the continuing grounds work on our site represents a commitment to restoring its native habitat for the preservation of local wildlife. Over the past 12 years, 11 species of invasive plants have been removed and conservation landscaping with 33 native trees, 70 shrubs, and 55 perennials has been installed all around the property.
